Member terms
Last updated: June 12, 2026 · Version v1-2026-06-12
These terms are an agreement between you and Axle Radar LLC, a Delaware limited liability company, which operates Aldis (“Aldis,” “we,” “us”). Please read them alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how Aldis handles data.
Acceptance & eligibility
By creating an account or using Aldis, you agree to these terms. You must meet the minimum age that applies to you: 13 in the United States (COPPA), and each EU member state’s own minimum (between 13 and 16) in the European Union. If your country is unknown or unstated, the minimum age is 16. If you don’t meet the minimum, you can’t use Aldis.
What Aldis is — and isn’t
Aldis is a presence router and check-in composer. It sorts your contacts into closeness layers, shows you lightweight presence signals — a status, a passive alive-signal, and suggested check-in drafts — and helps you decide when to reach out.
Aldis offers suggestions only. It never sends anything on your behalf. You compose every message and send it yourself through your own apps. Aldis is not a messaging service: it provides no message transport, no delivery guarantees, and no read receipts.Whether and when a message arrives is up to the app and network you send it through. Closeness in Aldis is private and asymmetric — the people you add are never told which layer they’re in.
Your account & your responsibility
You’re responsible for your account and for what you do with Aldis. That includes who you choose to invite and what you choose to send through your own messaging channels. By using contacts’ information in the app, you confirm you have the right to do so. Keep your login secure; you’re responsible for activity under your account.
Acceptable use
Don’t use Aldis to break the law, to harass or harm others, or to send anything unlawful. Don’t scrape or bulk-extract data from the service, reverse-engineer it, or attempt to circumvent its per-layer, age, or consent controls. Don’t interfere with the service’s operation or security.
Plans & billing
Aldis’s free tier covers your innermost two layers — your closest circle — at no cost. Paid tiers cover the wider layers. [Subscription pricing for paid tiers — to be confirmed; shown clearly before you subscribe.]
Some contacts require a one-time training step so Aldis can route presence for them. Any such charge — $0.50 per contact — is always shown to you before it happens. There is no silent billing: you’ll see the cost and confirm it before any training charge is incurred.
Intellectual property
Aldis — the app, its software, and its branding — belongs to us. The content you create, including the messages and check-ins you compose, belongs to you.Using Aldis doesn’t transfer ownership of your content to us.
Third-party channels & services
Aldis hands your messages off to apps you already use — iMessage, WhatsApp, Signal, SMS, email, and others. Delivery happens in those apps, under their own terms and privacy policies, not ours. The same goes for any calendar you connect (for example, Google or Apple): those connections are governed by the relevant provider’s terms. We’re not responsible for third-party services.
Disclaimers & limitation of liability
Aldis is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind. Because Aldis doesn’t deliver your messages, we’re not responsible for messages you send through third-party channels, or for a check-in that’s missed, late, or never seen. To the fullest extent allowed by law, our total liability for any claim relating to Aldis is limited. [Standard liability cap — to be set with counsel.]
Changes to these Terms
We may update these terms as Aldis evolves. Each version carries a version string and an effective date, and when a change is material, we’ll ask you to re-acknowledge it before you continue. This is version v1-2026-06-12.
Governing law & contact
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Questions about these terms: privacy@aldis.app. Aldis is operated by Axle Radar LLC, a Delaware limited liability company.
